Miss Mexico Wins 69th Miss Universe; Latina Contestants in Top 10

MANILA, Philippines — Mexico’s representative to the 69th Miss Universe beauty pageant, Andrea Meza, has been crowned Miss Universe 2020 on Monday, May 17 (Philippine time) at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

Meza beat 73 other women from different countries. Miss Brazil Julia Gama finished first runner-up followed by Miss Peru Janick Maceta as the second runner-up. India’s Adline Castelino was declared third runner-up while Dominican Republic’s Kimberly Perez bagged the fourth runner-up title.

Candidates from Latin America dominated the top 10 of the said beauty pageant. Here’s the full list:

  1. Jamaica – Miqueal-Symone Williams
  2. Dominican Republic – Kimberly Jimenez
  3. India – Adline Castelino
  4. Peru – Janick Maceta
  5. Australia – Maria Thattil
  6. Puerto Rico – Estefania Soto
  7. Thailand – Amanda Obdam
  8. Costa Rica – Amanda Obdam
  9. Mexico – Andrea Meza
  10. Brazil – Julia Gama

Meanwhile, Philippines’ Rabiya Mateo was the 15th contestant to be called in the top 21, concluding her journey early.
