‘The Southeast Asian-Latin American Connection’ Webinar Series

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Philippine Academic Consortium for Latin American Studies are organizing a two-part webinar series on the connections between Latin America and Southeast Asia made by the Armada de Maluco and subsequent Far East expeditions.

The said webinar series will take place in November.

The first session titled “Panel A: Peoples and Heritage in Old Filipinas-Mexico-Peru Network” will be held on Nov. 23 at 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Among the speakers are Paulina Machuca, Cuauhtémoc Villamar, Kristyl Obispado and Francis Navarro.

On Nov. 24 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., the second session titled “Panel B: Trade and Cross-Cultural Encounters in ‘Nuevo Mundo’” will be held. The speakers include Marya Svetlana Camacho, Paulo Roberto Pereira (with Paulo Knauss) and Jaime Rosenblitt.
